The Royal Mint produced Victorian cents having 22 different date and mintmark combinations. In total, they minted 51,642,925 Victorian cents. The provincial cents, dated 1858 and 1859, constituted the largest single mintage (a single order of cents minted between December 1858 and December 1859). The second largest annual mintage of 4,100,000 was dated 1901. The smallest mintages, only one million pieces, occurred in 1890, 1894, and during the Royal Mint mintage of 1900.
The Royal Mint contracted with Ralph Heaton & Sons to mint Victorian cents in six different years. Their distinctive "H" mintmark can be found directly under the date on cents dated 1876, 1881, 1882, and 1890. They placed the mintmark under the bottom leaf on cents dated 1898 and 1900. The Royal Mint also coined cents dated 1900 and those had no mintmark.
